24. Inquire About Your Application Status
Two dates. Both went well — real laughter, a lingering goodbye, a "we should do this again" that sounded practically notarized. That was six days ago, and the channel has gone silent. You are, in every sense that matters, a candidate who cleared two interview rounds and never heard back from the company. Draft the status inquiry.

accepted"Dear Hiring Team, I am writing to follow up on my application for the role of Person You Actually Text Back. I felt both interview rounds went genuinely well, and I remain very interested in the position. If the role has been filled, kindly release me back into the candidate pool so I may pursue other opportunities. Warm regards, [your name], References available upon request."read 22:09 ✓✓
Constraints
- Exactly one status inquiry. HR does not respond to daily follow-ups, and neither will they.
- Wait at least four days post-date before inquiring. Before that it isn't silence; it's a busy week.
- The tone ceiling is playful. If any clause could be read aloud in a hurt voice, redraft until it can't.
- No reaching out to their friends for an internal referral. That's not networking; that's an investigation.
Hints
- The bit does two jobs at once: it reopens the thread AND tests whether they can play. Both outputs are valuable, whatever happens next.
- You're not begging for the position — you're auditing whether the position exists. Different posture, same three sentences.
- If the inquiry is also met with silence, that IS the status update. It just arrived in a format you didn't expect.
